How Free! instantly became a better sports series than Prince of Tennis

Not that it takes much to be a better sports series than PoT, but Free! did it in seven episodes, simply because

Hint hint, Konami.

Wie geht es Ihnen? Guten Morgen

Do you know what this is? This is Günter in the morning.

You know he'd sing to himself in German while making his coffee. ;P

Dec. 30th, 2012

First of all, in Kyoto I found an Animate store, and as I picked up a few items, I saw they were doing Tenipuri anikuji. So on a whim I did two anikujis, and ended up winning CDs of Atobe and Kite. XD Of all the CDs they had, I got two of my, like, eight favorite characters. Whee~

And then I lamanted the fact that I wouldn't be anywhere near anything resembling a CD player for several days. Woe! But I've heard them now, and I must say Atobe's is pretty amazing. ;P

So I'm home from my trip, safe and sound and a little bit sick, but overall happy I went. And exhausted. I'll do a little report and post pictures later, but for now I'll just talk about today really quick.

Today I went to Comiket, like I do every winter.

I headed over there as soon as I stepped off the bus from Kyoto, after stopping by a locker to stash my luggage in. It was pouring fucking rain all day, and when I got to Tokyo Big Sight and followed the crowed to the GIGANTIC line for the East Hall, I was miserable and paranoid about my bag getting wet and my iPad getting destroyed. The rain run-off from everyone's umbrellas kept shooting out at tiny me, and the whole time I wasn't even sure I was in the right line. So after an hour of standing there and seeing other people getting in but the line I was in not moving, I went over to a staff person and asked where the line for the East Hall was. Turns out I was in the right line, but since I'd gotten out of line to ask, I had to go to the end of the line, adding another hour at least on to my wait. In the the pouring fucking rain.

I actually wouldn't have been so irritable and pissy if it weren't raining. But after another 20 minutes of standing in the rain, I decided fuck it, I didn't need anything in there that bad. So I left the line again, and was going to just go the fuck home.

I was seriously like a fish swimming upstream, the lone me walking back towards the station against yet more hordes of people heading towards the East Hall line. But then when I got to where the West Hall was, I saw there wasn't really any line at all. I knew the West and East halls were connected inside the building, so I had to wonder if they weren't blocked off or something. Why else would everyone wait outside to get in the East Hall, when they could just go in the West Hall and walk to the East without waiting? It couldn't be that easy... could it?

Well, since I was there I gave it a whirl, and it worked out just fine. I went in the West Hall, with no line and no waiting, and walked on the inside, out of the rain, to the East Hall. It really was that easy, and I can't figure out why the thousands of people waiting outside the East Hall didn't do that (not that I'm complaining).

Then I did my annual bee-line to D-1's booth and bought all the books I didn't have. And since they are very productive, it was quite a few. =O The hot Tezuka cosplayer was there again, and this time they also had a cute Atobe cosplayer, and they were dressed as waiters. X3
But other than them, there weren't many other TAT booths. I only saw one other circle's booth; it was a little sad.

I wandered around the rest of the Tenipuri booths, and found these ridiculous things. I looked for Kamen Rider stuff, but there wasn't anything (must have been there on a different day). I got a Sakaki x Atobe doujishi (what? don't look at me like that), and with it they gave me a little fake rose (because they're classy as fuck). I bought a Tyki x Lavi doujinshi that is so porny I had to show my I.D. for them to sell it to me. XD And... I think that's all.

I didn't really stay long, though, and in the end, I don't know how much longer I can continue going. Maybe it was just the rain making it miserable, but it's so troublesome and there are SO many people that I always end up pissed off. We'll see.

As for now, I have many new doujinshi to read. =3

How I spent my birthday.

Still channeling At'be.

Wow, Kazuki got a major haircut. Somehow, it makes him look a lot older, but I like it.

There is nothing that man can do to himself that isn't sexy.

In semi-related news, have I mentioned I now live in a town that has an Animate, a Mandarake, and a Volks store? I'm going to go so broke...

Today I realized I'm finally at the point where I've lost track of what TAT doujinshi I have or don't have. And for the first time ever, I bought a duplicate. .>_< So I guess it's time to fire up the ebay account.

There is that.

At least when absolutely nothing else is going right in my life...

... I'll always have Atobe falling on his face.

It's official - There is absolutely nothing new under the sun.

Me today: "Why am I watching this, I hate this fucking serie- Renji!"

Comiket winning!

There should be a rule against bringing fucking suitcases to Comiket. If you crazy bitches are buying so much porn you can't carry it all like a normal person, you need to get mental help or something. Damn.

But aside from that, I think Comiket was a success. .^_^ I got (almost?) all caught up on my D-1 TAT doujinshi collection (and had the books sold to me by a super hot Tezuka cosplayer.. .@_@ ), and started working on collecting Kamen Rider doujin. .^^ I even managed to find some Kintaros x Ryuutaros books! =D They're so super cute. XD

But I'd only made it through about half of the Eiji/Ankh stuff before I said "Woah, I need to stop." I could feel a mad money-spending frenzy coming on, and had to not let that happen. After all, I'm going to Hokkaido tomorrow. .^^

But everything I did pick up looks to be cute and/or sexy. I look forward to reading them when I get back. .^__^

Oh, this song reminded me! I also got the MOST ADORABLE EVER felt Renji... thing. XD It kills me with adorable. I'll take a picture of it later so you can all die from it too. ;P

Somehow I find this freakishly adorable.

Ridiculous tennis is ridiculous.

So at the last moment I decided to actually go see the new Prince of Tennis movie. It came out last month, but I oddly wasn't all that interested in seeing it. Until I bought the previously mentioned calendar. .^^ Somehow, that ignited the desire to see it. But since it's already been out a month, this is the last weekend it'll be in theaters, so despite the fact that I'm supposed to be in no spending money at all mode until payday (Monday... or Tuesday, whenever my company feels like it...), I kind of had to go now, or I wouldn't be able to see it.

So I went.

It was as usual. The characters were love, the tennis was ridiculous, and, of course, Ryoma wins in the end (cue eyeroll). It was a little bit darker than either the series itself or the first movie, but had the usual fun moments.

And yes, Tezuka rode Atobe. .... I mean... rode with Atobe. On a waverunner.

In one part, Tezuka needs to go find Ryoma, who took off somewhere down the Thames River. Atobe has a grand scheme to get him alone offers to take him on a 2-seater waverunner that he happens to have in England for some reason, but just as they're about to leave, some other guys show up. The others are all insisting they go too, and then Atobe is like "Fuck you guys" (maybe not in those exact words) "my watercraft only seats two and you're ruining my plan." Then, out of fuckin' nowhere, Higa shows up with a boat. And, hooray, now everyone can go.

However, despite there now being a boat that can carry everyone going, Tezuka still rides with Atobe on the waverunner.

Also, at one point Fuji literally rides in on a white horse to save Kite. Now, I'm not saying I'm going to start shipping them or something, but... wow.

Actually, Kite was pretty badass throughout the whole movie.

Shippy-wise, any hardcore Tezuka/Fuji fans probably found themselves disappointed (unless they're the "OMG, they're standing next to each other!" type...). Any hardcore Tezuka/Shiraishi fans got spoiled. The two were pretty much together always (besides the time(s) Tezuka was riding Atobe ;P ). Golden Pair fans didn't get much, but one very special picture at the end. And the original character bad guys of the movie are pretty much canon.

All in all, it was pretty nostalgic to be seeing something from this anime that I love to hate or hate to love or whatever after all this time. I would definitely recommend it to any PoT fan who has an hour to kill. It did, however, also remind me of why I don't actually care about the series itself anymore.

And in completely other news, 83 days after paying, taking the lead for longest wait for a doll ever (over the previous record of 72 days), I finally got shipping notice for my pony. And I'm happy to know he's finally on his way, but I'm still miffed that people who paid theirs off a month after I did got theirs first. WTF?

My strange life.

Nope, nothing normal here.

In (large) pictures. )

I'm sure this will all stop and my life will be boring again soon. Right?

Also, Pair Puri is pretty much the gayest thing ever.

You crazy kids.

Since we're coming up on winter vacation, I've been doing a lot of Christmas-related things at work. Today I was teaching one of my fourth-grade classes, and did a little talk about how we celebrate Christmas in my family, and then after we let the students ask any questions. Most of the questions were asked through their teacher, who is pretty decent at English, but one of the kids asked if he could ask me directly, in Japanese. She told him I would probably be able to understand if he spoke slowly, so he made a big show of talking in slow-motion. .^^ So it kind of went "Iiiiiiiiichiiiiiiiibaaaaannnn biiiiikuuriiiiii shitttteeee naaaaa puuuuuuureeeeeeeezeeeeeeeeennntooooooooo waaaaaa nnnaaaann deeeesssu kaaaa?"

Though he was being a cheeky brat, I couldn't help but crack up at it.

And I have to wonder, if he's this saucy at nine years old, what's he going to be like at nineteen? .^^;

My other silly thing is last night I was playing 'Smash Hit 2', doing doubles, but decided to mix up the teams a bit. I usually do doubles with either Tezuka and Atobe or Tachibana and Renji, but I felt like playing with Akutsu yesterday, so I split my usual pairs up, and played as Akutsu with Tezuka, against Taichi and Atobe.

From the start, I imagined Atobe throwing a fit at being paired with Taichi.

When game started, I quickly realized I wasn't going to get to play. .^^;; Akutsu and Taichi just kinda stood there while Tezuka and Atobe seemed to only be playing with each other. And at one point Taichi actually said "僕もボールを打ったいです" ("I want to hit the ball too").
Until Tezuka knocked Taichi flat on his back (which highly amuses me that that can be done in this game XD ). I couldn't help but imagine Akutsu having to be held back from beating the shit out of his own doubles partner.
.... Then he hit Taichi himself, in the face.
.............. Twice.

AkuTez pair won, by the way.

hate hate hate hate hate hate hate

It`s been a month since I lost my computer.

To say I`m pissed doesn`t even begin to cover it. The fucking thing was only two years old, and is now totally useless. It took all of a second for me to lose contact with my family and friends, to lose my ability to find out things I need to know, and one second to lose my hobbies.

I spent a month contacting a bunch of different people to see about getting it fixed. I`ve spent much of the time just waiting for people to fucking get back to me, and that`s beyond frustrating.

HP said they could fix it, but they`d have to pick it up from an address in the U.S., and after spending weeks trying to arrange sending it to someone, I find out laptops can`t be mailed overseas, as they`re considered dangerous goods.

I sat outside the post office and cried for half an hour that night.

Then I finally got in touch with someone in Tokyo who said they could fix it. They opened it up and said the motherboard was fried and would have to be replaced.
Today I left work with a phone message simply saying to give them a call, which I`ll have to do later, since they were closed by then.

And, ya know, I wouldn`t be at all surprised if they said they couldn`t fix it after all.

And then what? Do I buy a new computer? But it`s not that easy. Do I buy a Japanese computer, or an American one? If I get an American system, and it needs to fucking be fixed in two years, then what? Do I have to then buy another brand new computer? If I have problems, am I just going to again be told nobody around here can help with foreign systems?
If I buy a Japanese one, will I be able to get my programs on it? Because I am not buying a Japanese version of Photoshop, but I only have a copy of the English version.

Hopefully, my laptop will be alright. I don`t want to lose what`s on it. Mostly the programs, but also all the stuff. I have some 2,000 doll pictures alone on that thing, not to mention all the fanart, music, and videos. Pictures of my family, pictures of Kurama, stuff I can never get back if it`s lost.

All I can do is sit and wait, and I HATE IT SO MUCH.

I`ve been so depressed.

On a side note, if anyone is curious as to what I`ve been doing in the past month... I bought a [pink] PS2, and have been playing a lot of `Smash Hit 2`, where I learned Tachibana`s greatest joy is hitting Atobe in the face with tennis balls, while Renji`s shots seem to gravitate to Tezuka`s chest. Let`s just say, team TAT came out of those matches very, very bruised.

day 15 → a fanfic

Huh... I have no fun image to post for this... .^^;

Well anyway, my fanfic recommendation is this!! XD

Summary, by the author:

"In which a drunk Atobe tries to pick Tezuka up at a bar, and Tezuka is very, very married."

It's fun. And I totally didn't "get it" until, like the very end. ::laughs:: Because I'm clueless, and need things spelled out for me. ;P

So I'll give you....

For something so short, this makes me silly happy. ::laughs::

Anyway.. I'll mention now that I think the interview went well. But at the same time, I don't have (or want to have..) high hopes, just because things don't usually work out for me. If it happens, yey, but if not, it'd be as expected.

Toronto was lovely. My plan to park at a station worked perfectly, so I only had to pay subway fare here and there.

I first went to St. Lawrence Market. When I came out of the subway station, I had no idea which way to go, so I started going right, then stopped, took a few pictures, then turned and went left. After walking a block, I found a map and tried to figure out where I was, but it didn't have the market listed. Some guy saw me and asked if I needed help. I told him what I was looking for and he gave me easy-peasy directions. As expected, if I'd kept on going right I would have come across it. But it was all good. And the market itself was really neat. Just a lot of food stalls, but it smelled delicious! I bought some organic tomatoes and a peameal bacon sandwich. Yum!

Then I headed to Yonge-Dundas Square. It was beautiful! Lots of expensive shops, huge, brilliant screens, and street performers. Very exciting. I stopped by the World's Biggest Bookstore, but everything in Canada is more expensive (or at least feels like it, given the exchange rate, but probably actually costs the same.. .^^ ), so I figured if I found any books I just had to have (I didn't), I could make note of them and get them back home. But it was fun. And in the middle of the square was this guy playing totally awesome music. Like... it sounded like a whole band was there, but it was just this one guy with a bunch of instruments strapped to his body. I was impressed.

Also went inside the Eaton Centre, which was basically a huge mall, but all I bought was this pineapple-coconut juice thing. But it was cool, 'cause they made it in this plastic cup, then had the cup sealed... it was neat.

Went back to the car, then lost my way to the hotel, checked in no problem. Then, knowing my issues with getting lost, I decided to do a test drive to the building where the interview would be. This turned out to be the best thing, because it was really really difficult to navigate my way there. I ended up getting crazy lost three times on the test drive, and the trip, which should have taken 15 minutes, took over an hour. I was glad I did it, because I'd hate to have that happen when trying to get to the interview. And for good measure, I did a second test run, to make sure I had it down.

The day of the interview, though, there ended up being SOU much traffic. That 15-minute drive still ended up taking 45 minutes. .>_> Luckily I left an hour early. .^^;; I had intended on getting there pretty early, but ended up being right on time.

After the interview I went home, and of course got lost, so the 5 hour trip took 7. Heh....

So I got four hours of sleep that night, then had to get up ridiculously early to get my MRI. That was a neat experience, for sure. The machine was big and cool... and loud. It took longer than expected, and I think I actually fell asleep at one point. But they gave me a disk with the images on it. Too bad I have no idea how to look at them. .^^ I understand "That's a leg, there's the knee," but I don't know how to spot a tear.

I will say, though.... my legs, from the inside, look delicious. XD I swear to gods, if I'm ever stranded on a deserted island and starving to death, I'm totally going to just cook up a chunk of my leg, because that is one tasty looking hunk of meat. XD XD

On the 30th I go back to the joint specialist, and he'll tell me if he sees anything wrong. And if not... I don't know. I really want this fixed, but I'm tired of getting tests (most notably, paying for these tests) and being told "I don't see anything." I'll just live as a gimp. .;_;

I'm also probably going to ask for more vicodin when I go back. .>_>

And last but not least... I had today off, so managed to take dollie pictures. .^_^ Super special and important story, coming soon!

Eh heh..

Speaking of that PoT OVA... I still haven't found the 'Another Story' one(s?) (nevermind - found!), but I did find the Rikkai thing.. .... And Kite's album... and a bunch of other music and stuff I've missed by not really caring over the past few years. Heh.. And now my computer wants to kill me for downloading all this shit. ::laughs::

[falsetto]I don't understand why my harddrive fills up so fast! =O [/falsetto]

Tee hee~

My media player just played Atobe's Suki sa Suki sa Suki sa, then immediately after played Tezuka's I Love You.

I think they're talking to each other.
