BLEACH movie 4
Holy shit, that was awesome.
I think they're getting better at making Bleach movies, as they're finally focusing mostly on the characters we know and love... and are actually seeing the movie for... instead of primarily on the original characters. Ishida was actually in the whole movie, and Chad got whole lines! (I will never get over the first movie, where all he got was a grunt. .-_- ) And fuck yeah, Ukitake! .^__^ I totally squeaked when I heard his voice.
So the characters they put in were awesome, and had an appropriate amount of screen time. But on top of that, I actually liked the two main original characters as well. Especially the main bad guy (who is not the one you think it is >3 ). Love.
Amazing acting, I noticed. There were scenes that just aren't done in the series, so the seiyuu were really given a chance to show their talent. And again, that one original character is love in the vocal department as well. I adored his voice.
The animation was shiny and awesome, usually. There were one or two little places where I thought something looked awkward, but for the most part, I was impressed.
The music blew me away. Especially the song played at the very beginning, during the (holy fucking WOW!) replay of the Ichigo/Ulquiorra battle. If I see a soundtrack anywhere, I might seriously consider buying it.
As for the story, it was very good as well. Very interesting. My only issue with it is that I think they should have avoided going with the 'little sister is in danger... again...' plot. There's got to be some other way to spur Ichigo into action.
I won't give a real synopsis or anything, because I'd probably forget important details, and I don't understand enough Japanese to tell the why behind what's going on. The tl;dr version is a sinner in hell wants to use Ichigo's power to break the chains holding him there, so he kidnaps Yuzu to lure Ichigo and co. to hell. They fight their way to where she'd being held, with the help of this random guy who says he sinned against his own little sister, so wants to make up for it by helping save Yuzu. They find her, there's a betrayal, Ichigo goes insane, into full hollow mode, Renji saves the day, Ichigo and Yuzu go back to Earth, but Yuzu is technically dead, and Rukia, Renji, and Ishida are still stuck in hell. Byakuya is a snob, Yuzu miraculously comes back to life, and Ichigo goes back into hell to save the others. And then Ichigo becomes the king of hell. ... Ok, not really, but he ends up in an even more powerful form, with an awesome outfit.
.^^ Ok, so that was longer then I meant to write.
Anyway. I just saw it, and already I can't wait for a subtitled version, so I can know the things I don't understand.
And I totally want to see it again. But damn, 1,800 yen for a movie ticket? I'm so going to smack the next whiny American who cries about paying $8.00 to see a movie.
